Furthermore, we have not even to risk the adventure alone; for the heroes of all time have gone before us; the labyrinth is thoroughlyknown; we have only to follow the thread of the heropath. And where we had thought to find an abomination, we shall find a god; where we had thought to slay another, we shall slay ourselves; where we had thought to travel outward, weshall come to the center of our own existence; where we had thought to be alone, we shall be with all the world. About This Quote

The ideas of this quote, and its meaning, can be found in the book written by C.G. Jung and published in 1954. "The Undiscovered Self: The Symbolism of the Anima and Animus" was a book that helped to give a foundation for the field of Psychology that we now refer to as Jungian Psychology. In this quote, Jung talks about an experience he had as a teenager where he discovered his anima and animus.

He also speaks about the labyrinth, which is a reference to the Cathar cult of Medieval Europe where people were required to go through a secret ritual known as "The Cathar Path". The path was an obstacle course that caused people to take their own lives if they failed to complete it. Ultimately, however, Jung believes that we should strive for inner growth and healing through our journey.

We should not focus on who we are or what we have accomplished but rather look toward what we can become.
